Today’s Warm Up: Last Semester’s Indoor Outdoor Photos

For today’s warm up we will look at last semester’s Indoor Outdoor photos. Choose two photos to write about, one outdoor and one indoor. Download the photos and put them into your visual journal, then answer the questions below.

Choose one indoor and one outdoor portrait that you think does the best job of showing a side of your subject? Can you tell what side of the person’s personality the photographer is trying to show? Why are the successful ones successful? What side are you going to show of your person? Will it be as successful?

Today’s Warm Up: The best photo you ever took

My current favorite is this one:

Why I like it: As a photo teacher, I know that I used the rule of thirds in this photo, so my daughter Zoe isn’t placed in the middle, but off center, to the right.

I love how in focus she is. I like the look on her face, I like that we get her looking away from the camera, not at the camera at all. I love this part of the beach, it’s Manzanita, and Neakahnie mountain is right behin, and I love the lines in the sand. I love the filter I used. I made this photo using the Hipstamatic photo app. I love the patters in her shirt and how different they are to the rest of the photo, that contrast pleases me. Also it’s of my daughter, its frozen time. She is now almost a year older than she was in this shot .

Look through your Instagram. Choose your favorite picture. Then write a paragraph about why you like it. Post the photo and the paragraph to your visual journal.
